Frank Fitch and Friends will be back in the store Sat. May 7, 11-1:30, to play so-called “gypsy” jazz. This will be a real treat. If you’re not familiar with guitarist Django Reinhardt or violinist Stephane Grappelli, or even if you do know their music, this is a great chance to hear some fabulous jazz. It’s really listenable. So come on out, grab a seat, and don’t forget to buy something.
Django Reinhardt (1910-53) at the height of his powers. Of the Romany ethnic group, he was injured in a fire in his caravan in 1928. Two fingers of his left hand were paralyzed. It’s a wonder that after that he could play guitar at all, let alone brilliantly.
